Ryan is a Sports Massage Therapist at Calgary Muscle and Soft Tissue Clinic. His expertise lies in movement and he works tirelessly to return his patients to full function as quickly as possible while still maintaining a high level of care. His bread-and-butter areas to work on are necks, shoulders and hips as all are key areas needed to perform at the highest level. Ryan believes in a proactive approach to his treatments in order to avoid injury and prevent re-injury; he prescribes homecare exercises and stretches that coincide with his treatments to give his patients added benefit. He has a passion for working with individuals dealing with shoulder injuries, those who have suffered a concussion, as well as those who need fascial work for scars post surgery.
Ryan holds a degree in Kinesiology majoring in Mind Sciences from the University of Calgary and a 2200-hour Massage Therapy diploma from Mount Royal University. Additionally, Ryan has continued to expand his knowledge base outside of the university classroom by completing a number of certifications in order to provide the best possible treatment for his patients. He holds certificates in Fascial Stretch Therapy, Titleist Performance Institute Medical 2 Certified, Dynamic Cupping, Rock Blades and Functional Movement Screening. In the near future he plans to explore further certifications to do with concussion management/treatment as well as active compression-based release techniques.
An avid sports enthusiast, Ryan grew up playing a number of different sports from high impact sports like hockey to low impact sports like golf and baseball; all three he continues to play. Born and raised here in Calgary, he also enjoys getting out to the mountains for a good old-fashioned camping or hiking trip.
